My Name

I wonder sometimes why my parents decided to name me Poornabodh!!
I mean its not your everyday common Hindu name.
Coming from a fairly conservative madhwa brahmin family, I wouldnt be expecting a Tushar as my name( no offence to any Tushars reading this, but I happen to be watching a Tusshar Kapoor video rite now!!), but something more "pronouncable" was what I was expecting!!

Strangely,it is the best thing to have happened to me!!
First of all, the meaning
Poornabodh= Full Knowledge( Literal Translation from Sanskrit into English)
Poorna= Full
Bodh = Knowledge
So I had this big name to carry from the beginning of my academic life!! hehe

Now coming to the best part
My name is so rare that everybody sort of remembers me by my name if not by face( its the other way around most times though!!)
So I have a lot of people who do remember me back from my school and college days..
I am frankly quite proud that I am called Poornabodh now.. Thanks to my parents.. there is a reason for me to stand out.I know there are better things I need to do which should make me stand out in a crowd, but atleast I was the only Poornabodh in Carmel School,Salwan Public School( Delhi),Kumarans College,R.V.College of Engineering and certainly Arizona State University here in the U.S.

Flip Side
The inability of people to pronounce my name correctly.Bangalore is pretty okay,coming from the south,I had people who had more "Tongue twisting" names than I did.Delhi was bad...
The worst part has been the last year.. here in the U.S.
Most of my friends,relatives call me Poorna.Being aware of the short name trend in the US, I call myself Poorna here( everybody has a short name here, so that wasnt an issue really).Poorna has been made Porna!!

Now anybody who has some brains will realise the cause of my embarrassment!!
